Ring Power Becomes Newest Vac•Con Dealer

Ring Power Utility Equipment Division recently entered into an agreement with Vac•Con to become the newest dealer in Vac•Con’s construction and utility dealer network.

"We are very excited about the opportunity to partner with Vac•Con on their hydro-excavation product line,” said Mike Beauregard, Vice President of Ring Power Utility Equipment Division. “Vac•Con is a well-respected manufacturer providing unparalleled quality backed by a best in class service team. We are always looking for products that will expand our opportunity as a complete solutions provider to our customers. Hydro excavation is becoming a necessity in many area of the U.S. and we will have the right tools for the job when our customers call."

As a Vac•Con dealer, Ring Power Utility Equipment will provide contractor end-users with the rental and sales of the Vac•Con hydro-excavation product line for primary use in the construction industry.

“Ring Power has an upstanding reputation in the construction industry, which is primed and ready for hydro-excavation machines,” said Todd Masley, Executive Vice President, Vac•Con. “Our dealer partnership with Ring Power is a strong foot forward into this sector, in which the importance of safe, non-destructive digging is becoming a resounding factor. Our hydro-excavation machines, both truck and trailer-mounted, are designed to function as either individual machines or in tandem with traditional methods of digging often seen on the job site. Ultimately, we see this opportunity with Ring Power propelling us into a new market with confident optimism of the results to follow.”

The hydro-excavation portfolio includes the X-Cavator™ and Mudslinger™ machines. The X-Cavator from Vac•Con is a truck-mounted hydro-excavation machine designed to handle tough jobs but with the utmost precision including trenching, potholing, daylighting, exposing underground utilities, oil and gas distribution lines, and much more.

Don't Miss Out on Opportunity to Save $300

on 2019 Health Insurance Premiums

Your well-being is important to us, and Ring Power has introduced a variety of incentives to promote wellness over the years. We hope that you are aware of any personal health concerns and making the necessary changes in your lifestyle to achieve and maintain good health. Accordingly, during the open enrollment sessions last Fall we offered the opportunity to receive a $300 annual credit applied to your 2019 monthly health insurance contributions.  Many of you have fulfilled this requirement already.  For those of you that have not yet taken advantage of this offer, the good news is, there is still time to earn this credit.

If you complete (1) a biometric screening and (2) the online Health Risk Assessment (HRA) by September 30, 2018, you will qualify for the health insurance credit to be applied to your 2019 contributions.

The biometric screening can be completed in one of two ways:

1. Visit a Quest Lab through the RPC program (important) - see page 5 in the updated Benefits Guide for details to complete. The updated benefits guide can be found on the Wellness tab on the employee intranet. To earn credit for the biometric screening through the Quest Lab Option, you must schedule your appointment through the Ring Power Quest Lab program.  This option allows you to make your appointment at Quest without visiting your physician.  If you visit your physician, you must return a Physician Verification Form to receive credit OR visit your doctor and complete/return the Preventative Exam Form to Bailey Mullin at The Bailey Group or Shelley Minzenberg  at WCC.

2. The HRA may be completed through Florida Blue by going to your Florida Blue online account by September 30, 2018.  Instructions to complete this activity are in Page 4 of the updated Wellness Guide.

Ring Power has been working with The Bailey Group to look for more specific ways to promote wellness in the coming years. Once a reliable activity tracking application is established, we intend to introduce a more specific way for monitoring and recognizing your efforts over time.  However, for the 2019 benefits year, we will only require the two items mentioned above.  As always, we hope that healthy living becomes your lifestyle so that you can be an active, vibrant family member and member of the Ring Power team for many years ahead.

If you have any questions regarding wellness or the wellness insurance credit program, please contact Shelley Minzenberg at extension 1248.

Think of the things you do with your hands, both on and off the job. These ‘tools’ are essential for most of us to earn a living, but also for eating and personal care, caressing a loved one’s cheek, engaging in our recreational activities, just about everything! Trying to get through a day with an injured hand is extremely frustrating.  Imagine having to do that for the rest of your life.

Hand injuries are the most common injury we see at Ring Power. It accounted for 29% of our injuries in 2017 and 20% so far this year. We believe that the increased use of gloves and better awareness has contributed to this decline, but we still have a long ways to go. Given how much we depend on our hands, shouldn’t we take as good of care of them as we do our eyes? Safety glasses use is way up, and we haven’t had a single eye injury this year, compared with three for 2017!

Applying this same logic to hands, we can continue to see a decrease in hand injuries, both on and off the job with an increase in wearing the right hand protection. Choose gloves that match the hazard.  Leather gloves can protect against cuts and abrasions, for example. We know that gloves aren’t “one size fits all.” Neither are they one glove fits all hazards.

Lakeland Demo Day a Success for CRS Team

The Lakeland branch hosted a Cat Rental Store demo day Wednesday, July 25, inviting customers from the Polk County area and beyond to check out some of the offerings and new deals available.

Despite rainy conditions off and on throughout the day, the event was a success with a few dozen customers coming by to check out the Cat Rental Store offerings, play in the dirt a little and enjoy a lunch hot off the grill courtesy of the team at the Lakeland branch.

“We were very pleased with the turnout at the Lakeland Demo Day,” said West Region Cat Rental Store Sales Manager, Drew Cisel. “Several customers were able to operate a variety of equipment and we were also able to generate some sales and leads. Thanks to everyone for making this event a success.”

The Cat Rental Store also held a social media contest asking customers that attended the event to tag Ring Power and use a series of hashtags to enter the contest. The winner, Frank Hallock of Hallock Enterprises Inc., took home a brand new Yeti cooler.

Ring Power on Prominent display at jumbo Shrimp game

A few members of our Cat Rental Store team caught up the Jumbo Shrimp’s mascot, Southpaw, at the game. Pictured L-R: Luke Pritchett, John DeWitt, Southpaw, John Masley, and Jeff Osborne.

Employees and area fans came out the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville, Sunday, July 15, to watch the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp take on the Biloxi Shuckers. Previously known as the Jacksonville Suns, the Jumbo Shrimp are Jacksonville’s minor league baseball team. Ring Power was a proud sponsor of the Jumbo Shrimp’s game against the Shuckers. Before the game, fans had a chance to checkout a display of Cat Compact equipment, and members of our Cat Rental Store team were on hand to answer any questions. Jeff Osborne (WCC CRS Account Manager), made his minor league debut by throwing out the first pitch. Throughout the game Ring Power’s logo was displayed prominently on the scoreboard for all fans to see. Unfortunately, the Jumbo Shrimp were defeated (6-4) by the Shuckers. However, it was a win for Ring Power and all the fans who had a day of fun at the game.

PSD ISR Attends Boot Camp in Raleigh

WCC PSD Inside Sales Rep Miles Phillips (pictured right with VP Air Compressor Sales, Roger Adkins), attended Caterpillar’s Inside Sales Rep Boot Camp held in Raleigh, N.C. May 14-18.

Phillips said the five-day training session was spent learning cold-calling techniques, how to be conversational with potential customers and getting feedback from other sales reps on live calls to customers.

He said his biggest takeaway from the boot camp was how to keep the customer engaged on a phone call to find out a customer’s pain points and needs.

“Once you can figure that out in a conversation-type setting, you can find out what we can do to help them as a business,” Phillips said.

In Memoriam

We were stunned and deeply saddened to learn of the untimely passing of Billy Wingate Saturday, July 21. A Florida native, Billy’s first job after graduating high school in 1978 was as a Mechanic Trainee with Rozier Machinery. He moved to positions of increasing responsibility at Rozier, then Ringhaver in 1986 and ultimately as an Assistant General Service Manager at Ring Power after the merger in 2004.  Since 2014, Billy served as Surface Mining Division Manager working out of the Tampa location.  To those of us who knew Billy well, he brought a spark of life and fun in all of his interactions.  He led by example and was diligent in his efforts to exceed the expectations of those appointed over him.  A devoted member of the Ring Power team for more than 40 years, Billy was always deeply committed to the success of the company.  His friendly character, integrity, and diligence made a significant positive impact on all those who have had the privilege to work with him.  Billy was just 58 years of age and is survived by his parents Willie and Lavone, his wife of 40 years Ravanna, sons Billy Jr., James and Royce, and 13 grandchildren. Billy will be sorely missed by all who knew him.  Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time.
