More than 100 customers came out to the Orlando branch on April 25, eager to learn about the features and benefits of Next Generation Cat® machines.
Three Next Gen excavator models — the 323,330 and 336 were among the machines highlighted at the event. Attendees learned how new machine technology offers up to 45 percent increased productivity, 25 percent reduced fuel consumption, and 12 percent reduced maintenance costs. Customers had the chance to get into the operator’s seat to experience the new machines for themselves.
A Cat 623K Scraper was also on hand for the event. Caterpillar is the only company to manufacture this size scraper. The machine is equipped with load assist, and is available for purchase or rent.
Customers also had the chance to see a D5 dozer equipped with Trimble Earthworks. Trimble GNSS receivers have now been moved from the blade to the cab. This new setup improves safety by eliminating the need for operators to be on blade to mount and dismount the receivers.
In addition to showcasing new equipment, the demo event featured a service expo for customers to learn more about what Ring Power has to offer.
A handful of lucky customers left the demo event with one of several prizes given away. Prizes included:
A fishing excursion aboard the Ring Leader
Feed Your Crew: Food and drinks for up to 40 people
One-week excavator rental
50” TV
Cat Cooler
Cat Bluetooth speaker
Monster Jam tickets
Gear Up Events are planned for Tampa and St. Augustine in the Fall.
After an old welding trailer caught fire last year, Dragline Mining Specialists turned to the St. Augustine fabrication and paint shop to design brand new welding trailers. The Dragline Mining Specialists’ team worked closely with the fabrication and paint shop to modify military surplus trailers to meet their unique needs. These new welding trailers can be transported to a customer site behind a service truck to conduct welding repairs, while advertising the professional services of Ring Power. The construction of these trailers was truly an example of the Ring Power team coming together! Great job, everyone!
After an extensive audit of WCC’s Major Component Rebuild Center, Timken recently designated the St. Augustine shop a Timken Bearing Certified facility “Gold” Level for 2019 -2021.
The certification process included an intense pre-audit by a Timken engineer, followed by personnel training and a post-audit process.
Timken Bearing Gold Level certification is reserved for an exclusive group of bearing maintenance facilities who adhere to the highest standards in bearing service.
Congratulations to St. Augustine MCRC on this outstanding achievement!
On average, men die five years younger than women, and die at higher rates from nine of the top 10 causes of death. Men are also less likely than women to be insured. All of this impacts their ability to be involved fathers, supportive partners, and engaged community members.
Get a physical. Most of the factors that contribute to men’s shorter, less healthy lives are preventable. And that prevention starts with seeing a healthcare provider on a regular basis. Adult men in the United States visit primary care providers at lower rates than adult women. Establishing baselines for factors such as blood pressure, cholesterol, weight, and PSA (a screening test for prostate cancer risk)—and monitoring how they change over time—will enable the provider to catch potentially dangerous conditions early, when they’re still treatable.
Essential Screening Tests Every Man Needs
Prostate Cancer
50 for average-risk men.
45 for men at high risk. This includes African-Americans.
40 for men with a strong family history of prostate cancer.
Colorectal Cancer
The American Cancer Society recommends that men at average risk of colorectal cancer start regular screening at age 45.
Skin Cancer
The American Cancer Society and the American Academy of Dermatology recommend regular skin self-exams to check for any changes in marks on your skin including shape, color, and size. A skin exam by a dermatologist or other health professional should be part of a routine checkup.
High Blood Pressure
The risk for high blood pressure increases with age. It's also related to weight and lifestyle. High blood pressure can lead to severe complications without any prior symptoms. How often blood pressure should be checked depends on how high it is and what other risk factors you have.
Cholesterol
A high level of LDL cholesterol in the blood causes sticky plaque to build up in the walls of the arteries and increases your risk of heart disease. Over time it can lead to heart attack and stroke. Starting at age 20, men should be screened if they are at increased risk for heart disease. Starting at 35, men need regular cholesterol testing.
Type 2 Diabetes
One-third of Americans with diabetes don't know they have it. Uncontrolled diabetes can lead to heart disease and stroke, kidney disease, blindness from damage to the blood vessels of the retina, nerve damage, and impotence. Men should have the test every three years starting at age 45. If you have a higher risk, including high cholesterol or blood pressure, you may start testing earlier and more frequently.

There are big changes coming in the next month or two in how we report and investigate incidents at Ring Power. Of course we don’t want anyone to get hurt, but we are implementing a platform by VelocityEHS. Currently we have two reporting processes, one for injuries and one for automobile accidents. When we go online with VelocityEHS we will have one place to report both of these losses. In addition to simplifying the reporting process, instead of having paper forms that have to be filled out by hand, scanned in and forwarded to all the proper people, the investigation process will be done online, whether on a computer or an app on your phone or tablet!
The team from VelocityEHS will be onsite on May 14th and 15th to customize the platform to Ring Power. Once they build out all the changes, train-the-trainer training is planned for June 5th and 6th, with cascading of the training to follow in the month of June to all locations. If all goes as planned, the plan is to require all new incidents to be reported through the new system July 1.
Like we did with EDGE, we will have a naming contest to name the process. Stand by for details coming soon.
Reporting of incidents that cause injury or damage is only one feature of the new platform. The more important improvement we will have with this new process is a methodology to report both near misses and hazards in the work place. These types of reports give us the opportunity to fix a hazard before one of our team gets hurt.
This platform is a key milestone in our safety journey at Ring Power. In addition to the simplicity of reporting and investigating incidents, it will allow us to gather data on our incidents over time to help identify hazards and processes that can be improved to reduce risk.
