To better meet the needs of a highly specialized customer base spanning 20 dealer territories, Caterpillar has appointed two dedicated Regional Dragline Dealers, Ring Power and Wyoming Machinery, to deliver aftermarket parts and service solutions to its dragline customers in the U.S.
Ring Power’s newest enterprise is to be called Dragline Mining Specialists, a division of Ring Power Corporation and will serve dragline customers in Florida, Georgia and the Carolinas; Dragline Service Specialties, a division of Wyoming Machinery Company will serve dragline customers in the rest of the country.
“The current U.S. dragline dealer model has highlighted many critical customer requirements which we cannot meet with a traditional dealer model,” said Phil Kelliher, Caterpillar Vice President Surface Mining & Technology Distribution Services. “[Changing to a regional] dragline dealer model is required to make the dragline business sustainable for the long term and to better serve our dragline customers.”
Ring Power’s exceptional service capabilities, project management resources and technically trained, customer facing sales personnel were key to our selection. We are proud to play a role in the long term success of dragline customers throughout the Southeast.
The dates for transition to the regional dragline dealer model will be released as soon as the terms have been finalized. Stay tuned!
Joan Kussmaul (left) receives a basket of goodies from Kathy Roberson of Convergence Training, the company that developed our new learning management system. In addition to the basket of goodies, Joan was awarded a $250 Visa gift card for coming up with the best name for it.
More than 300 unique names were submitted for Ring Power’s new Learning Management System. Thanks to everyone for their great suggestions! The 19 members of the LMS implementation team narrowed the list to seven names using a multi-voting technique.
The Top 7 contenders were:
1. EDGE (Employee Development and Growth Experience)
2. ROCK (Ring of Continuous Knowledge)
3. ROK (Ring of Knowledge)
4. Ring Power University
5. Ring Power VISION (Virtual Institute for Self Instruction and Opportunity Navigation)
6. RingKnowlogy
7. TRACK (The Ring Academy of Continuous Knowledge)
EDGE captured more votes than all the other names combined!
Congratulations to Joan Kussmaul (WCC PTOS/OLGA Coordinator), who thought up the winning name for our new, web based learning management system. EDGE, which stands for Employee Development and Growth Experience, will launch May 31 and will be available to every employee in the company.

Customer experience is our most critical competitive advantage. Competitors can imitate our stores, match our prices and even approximate our products, but how we make our customers feel when they do business with us is what determines market share.
Customers see the world in terms of the outcomes they want to achieve, the projects they need to get done and the pain points that impede their progress. Delivering exceptional results isn’t just about supplying the best products, it’s also about providing hassle free business transactions with no surprises, delays, excuses, annoyances or postponements.
Providing good customer experience means treating people―whether in person, online or on the phone―in a way that meets or exceeds their demands, expectations and satisfaction. And we don’t need to be sales reps or service technicians to deliver positive customer experience. We all serve our customers―directly or indirectly―no matter what position we hold.
In the short run, good customer experience encourages repeat business. Over the long haul, it builds customer loyalty. The easier and more pleasurable we make doing business, the more likely customers will bring their business to us and the more loyal they will become.
And loyal customers won’t just come back; they’ll encourage their friends to do business with us, too.
Jay Lusk has been named Assistant Government Sales Manager, working at the WCC branch and reporting to Alan Thomas. Jay holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of South Florida. In his new role, Jay will be responsible for overseeing and acquiring new business from governmental agencies in the North Florida territory.

More than 250 representatives from Trimble and SITECH dealers around the world attended SITECH Momentum 2018, Trimble’s global SITECH Technology dealer conference, which ran from January 29 to February 1 in Lima, Peru. In addition to examining marketing trends, sharing success stories and networking with product managers and Trimble leadership, distributors were recognized for outstanding performance in several categories at an international awards night.
At this year’s conference, our SITECH North & Central Florida team received the Sales Achievement Excellence Award for the Americas region, for selling more Trimble Protected Plus (software maintenance and warranty extension) plans than any other dealer in North, Central or South America.
Way to go, SITECH!!!

Viewers who tuned in April 12 to the hit CBS show "S.W.A.T." caught a glimpse of The Rook. The show stars Shemar Moore as SWAT Sergeant Daniel "Hondo" Harrison.
In this episode, The Rook was shown being unloaded from a trailer during a SWAT standoff. Keep watching, as The Rook is likely to see more action in future episodes!
Check out this behind the scenes video of "S.W.A.T." star Kenny Johnson getting up close and personal with The Rook.
Jacksonville employees enjoyed meeting Governor Scott face-to-face and hearing his plans for Florida’s working people. The Governor even took the time to pose for a selfie with this group of technicians!
Since kicking off his campaign for the U.S. Senate April 9, Florida Governor Rick Scott has made two visits to Ring Power branches.
Scott’s first stop was at Ring Power Lift Trucks in Jacksonville April 11, where he spoke to a crowd of approximately 300 employees and supporters about his achievements as governor. He touted Florida’s economic growth and said he would get to Washington D.C. the same way he got to Tallahassee—as an outsider. One of Scott’s main proposals is to bring term limits to Washington.
On April 26, Scott visited Ring Power’s Orlando branch. He was joined by members of the Florida state chamber of commerce who spoke about the governor’s dedication to keeping Floridians at work and adding more in-state jobs, reflecting Scott’s campaign slogan, “Let’s Get to Work.” During his Orlando stop, Scott spoke about the importance of industry in Florida and the role companies like Ring Power play in the state’s economy.
He remarked on the continued growth of Florida’s construction industry and his plans to sustain that growth if he is elected to the Senate. Scott also focused heavily on increasing jobs along the Space Coast.
The Cat Rental Store featured a mini excavator at the Junior Service League of St. Augustine’s seventh annual “Feel the Wheels” event in the St. Augustine Outlets parking lot April 28.
This fun event provides children the chance to explore construction equipment, semi-trucks, fire trucks and much more. All proceeds from the event benefit the tag! Children's Museum of St. Augustine.
Special thanks to Gena Smith (Marketing Executive Secretary), Joann Largacci (CRM & Customer Experience Coordinator), Ryan Palladino (CRS Operations Manager) and John Masley (CRS Account Manager), who dedicated their Saturday to making this year’s event a success!
USCGA Flotilla Commander Bill Candeletti, pictured here with Jody Hough (Trout Creek Store Coordinator) anticipates anywhere from 25 to 50 boat and kayak owners will take advantage of the opportunity to have their vessels inspected for free. Jody urges everyone to come and join in the fun at Trout Creek, 6550 State Road 13 N in St. Augustine, Sat., May 19!
Trout Creek Fish Camp will host its first U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Free Vessel Safety Check Saturday, May 19 from 7 a.m. till noon. Marine authorities from the Auxiliary and St. Johns County Sheriff’s and Fire departments will make sure boats are equipped with working navigation lights, life jackets and other safety inventory such as flares, fire extinguishers and sound devices. Boats that pass inspection will be awarded a distinctive VSC (Vessel Safety Check) decal, confirming to the Coast Guard, Harbor Patrol, and other law enforcement agencies that they are in full compliance with all federal and state boating laws.
A Coast Guard vessel will be on display for the duration of the event and the first 20 kids who show up will receive a free life vest. Jody has also invited Leslie Graves, an agent for the New York Life Child ID program to come and record photos, fingerprints, contact information, and any other pertinent identification data needed by the police in case of emergency. In addition, a food boat/truck on the river will be selling sandwiches and drinks and the Trout Creek Bait Shop will be open for business with bait, tackle, beverages and other miscellaneous items.
Commissioner Putnam speaks to local media at Ring Power about his jobs education platform.
Ring Power was proud to host Florida Agricultural Commissioner Adam Putnam, Republican gubernatorial candidate, Monday May 14. As a potential successor to Gov. Rick Scott, Commissioner Putnam is building on Scott’s jobs agenda by unveiling his Florida Jobs First Agenda during his visit.
Putnam’s emphasis would be on giving Florida students the tools and resources to succeed in the current economy. Specifically, Putnam’s plan would restore vocational and technical education back into middle and high schools, helping fill the jobs that Governor Scott’s administration created.
Larry Perdue (HE Service Operations Manager HE & DMS Divisions) gave Commissioner Putnam a detailed overview of the kinds of jobs and benefits offered at Ring Power and the kind of training needed for these jobs.
Congratulations to Carlos Acosta (Tampa PSD EP FS Tech) for going "the extra mile" for his customers and earning his FOURTH gold seal for his Top Cat certificate!
Hats off to the Sacramento Entertainment Services team for building customer loyalty!
Congratulations to Cody Kretzer (Brooksville HE FS Dispatcher) for consistently exceeding customer expectations with the top-notch service Ring Power is known for.
We applaud Dwayne Demastus (Orlando Crane Shop Lead) for keeping his customer's project on track while demonstrating the knowledge, experience and professionalism that reflect well on Ring Power.
We salute the WCC employees who helped the HEAL (Helping Enrich Autistic Lives) Foundation raise more than $15,000 to purchase iPads and educational software to help teachers advance the learning and development of autistic students in St. Johns County.
Thank you to John Till (Tampa Inventory Control Manager) for recognizing that customers, vendors and employees who require a safe, comfortable alternative to the long, steep stairs up to the Tampa Training Center might need to be directed down the hall to the elevator.
